Air classifier

Technical specifications

Air Classifier separators are gravity separators made of a separation chamber which is a conduit where material to process drops in free fall and crosses a forced upward air flow performing the separation between light and heavy particles.

The heavy fraction is collected in the bottom of the chamber while the light fraction is conveyed upward into a cyclone at the bottom of which it is collected.

All inlets and outlets are provided with airlocks making the Air Classifier closed loop.

ACS AND ACL MODEL
CLOSED LOOP AIR CLASSIFIER

Designed to process Eddy Current Separator ASR waste and optimize separation between soft light particles (foam, textile…), solid heavy particles (metals, rubber, heavy plastic, wood…) and dust. Using an SGM Air Classifier after your ECS and before your sensor based separators results in a better material presentation to your sensor separators and a greater purity of your Zurik and Copper Wire. The metals, including copper wire, ends up concentrated in the heavy fractions coming off the SGM Air Classifier that typically represents over 60% in weight of the ECS waste, but less than 50% in volume.

SGM Magnetics produces two models:

  • Models ACS – for medium ASR from 20 mm to 40 mm
  • Models ACL – for large ASR from 40 mm to 100 mm
