Electro Permanent Lifting Magnets (EPR)

SGM Magnetics has been pioneering and leading the development of Electro Permanent Lifting Magnets (EPRs) since 1974, establishing itself as the world market leader in this technology.

EPR magnets use two types of permanent magnet blocks, which either combine their magnetic forces to lift the load or short-circuit their fields to neutralize magnetization when at rest. The transition between these two states is achieved through a short electrical impulse, which changes the polar orientation of one of the magnets.

Since EPRs require no continuous power supply during operation, they provide fail-safe handling, energy efficiency, and enhanced safety, eliminating the risk of load drops due to power failure. Spreader beams are engineered to adapt to various crane configurations, including single hoist systems, trolleys with dual hoists, or independent hoist setups on gantry cranes.

SGM provides manual and motorized extendable spreader beams, which can include motorized rotation for enhanced flexibility.
