Compared to the use of slings or chains, handling bundles with magnets enables operations to be conducted from the crane cabin or from a safe distance on the ground. With SGM electromagnets, the crane operator alone can load and unload wagons or trucks. Typically, only two properly sized electromagnets are needed to handle a load of 10-ton beams ranging from 6 to 24 meters in length.

SGM specializes in designing and manufacturing magnets tailored specifically for this application, considering factors such as the range of loads to be handled (including section, length, weight, and temperature). In addition to determining the number and type of magnets required, SGM also designs and manufactures telescopic and motorized spreader beams to optimize magnet positioning and minimize load deflection.

Movable polarity diapason-type magnets are suitable for handling either single profiles (lengthwise) or rows of profiles (crosswise). SGM’s motorized telescopic spreaders can handle loads ranging from 6 to 24 meters with a compact footprint, greatly simplifying handling operations.
