Rails layers
Electro-Permanent Magnets for Rail Handling. Irrilevant residual magnetism (from welding, inductive quality controls, etc.).
They ensure absolute safety because the lifting force of SGM’s electro-permanent magnets is autonomous: only an electrical impulse is required to activate or deactivate the magnet. There is no power consumption during load handling. Therefore, there is no load drop due to power failure or cable interruption.
The lifting force of SGM’s electro-permanent magnets remains constant over time. The equipment can be controlled either from the deck cabin or remotely via remote control, preventing any incorrect operation.
SGM’s electro-permanent technology facilitates the management of redundant safety and monitoring devices. These magnets are recommended by many companies for high-risk applications or when power interruptions are common.
The magnetization/demagnetization function only takes a few seconds. Unlike electromagnets, electro-permanent magnets do not generate heat, allowing for a duty cycle of 100%—24 hours a day for cold rails. They are suitable for fully automatic equipment.
The electronic controllers of the EPR are less sophisticated than those of the electromagnets, even for the highest safety class (EN 13849.1). Electro-permanent magnets do not require any special maintenance, and the lifetime of their magnetic alloys is unlimited.
Attention: the temperature of the rail is limited. Designed and manufactured according to European standards EN 13155.
