Technical Specifications
SGM’s PLP (Head Pulley Magnet Separators) are used in many industries for many applications where it is necessary to remove raw iron and fine iron from a material traveling on a conveyor belt.
As a result, the pulley magnets are characterized by being magnetically active at 360 degrees. The non-magnetic material is discharged over the head magnetic pulley per its natural ballistic trajectory, while the iron is held by the magnetic pulley and discharged onto a shorter trajectory.
It is a head pulley that, unlike the suspension magnets that attract the ferrous material at a distance. It is directly in contact with the conveyor belt where the selected waste travels, ensuring high-performance results.
Its main feature is versatility. It can be used to recover metals from scrap of different nature and size.
Technical characteristics
- Ideal for the recovery of raw iron and fine iron from scrap and waste of different nature
- Uniform magnetic capacitance over the entire outer surface of the pulley
- Adaptability and versatility thanks to the availability of models with different diameters and widths
- Easy installation
- Strength and strength of the pulley operation
Operation
The magnets act 360 º on the total external surface of the separator in order to ensure high-level performance.
Placed at the head of the belt, the pulley attracts and retains the ferrous material during its rotation until it is released in a special hopper positioned according to the trajectory, followed by the recovered iron particles. The non-ferrous material, on the other hand, is discarded and collected in another container placed according to the ballistic trajectory of the waste.
Easy to install and made with different diameters and sizes, the permanent pulley can be used and adapted in different machinery, in order to improve scrap separation performance.
Its robust and resistant structure also guarantees its durability from wear.

Permanent models
SGM Magnetics produces three lines of pulley separators, each of which is made with a different permanent magnet circuit. The choice between the different magnetic circuits is mainly based on the maximum depth the load.
- High gradient circuit (High Gradient – HG) made with ferrite permanent magnet blocks able to obtain a load depth of up to 150 mm (6 )
- Very high gradient circuit (Very High Gradient – VHG) realized thanks to a patented SMG combination of neodymium and ferrite permanent magnet blocks for a load depth of up to 80 mm (3 ). Permanent neodymium magnets generate a strong magnetic attraction, enhanced and assisted by ferrite magnets.
- Ultra-gradient circuit (Ultra High Circuit – UHG) made with blocks of permanent neodymium magnets capable of supporting a load depth of up to 40 mm (1 ½”)
All models, however, have an adhesive capacity on the entire outer surface of the pulley. The choice between the different types of pulley must be made depending on the load of the processing material, the minimum and maximum dimensions of scrap and solid waste to be selected and the speed of the conveyor belt.
